Ghost Town

“Everthing is not real, like painted…”

There’s very little I can say about this story. I’m still off-center from reading it.

It’s all true: One woman’s motocycle ride through Chernobyl with a digital camera and a dosimeter.

Not much else to say.

A statement like “over 400,000 dead” cannot capture the truth or the horror.

But those last handful of photos from the kindergarten . . . well, my daughter is in kindergarten.

Take your time with it. Don’t rush. Read the commentary (broken English that’s far better than my Russian), spend some time with the photos, force yourself past the first few maps and go all the way to the end of Elena’s story . . . and, when you’re done, go outside and take a walk down the street and just imagine what it would be like…
